Advent to Candlemas (Vol. 4)

Mistletoe and Holly

My berries soft and white
Of timeless love
Embracing an old oak
In floating mist:
Kissing and kissed.

My berries bright and red
Of timeless love
Embracing all mankind
In pain and death
The Spirit's breath.

But where I am so gentle
You bear a prickle.

Your vaunted timeless love
Will not sustain
Without pain.

I gave my blood in love
For evermore,
For the unlovely and the poor:
Faces not dressed in mist
Shall still be kissed.
