Notes

  1. In the Old Testament I have omitted Chapters entirely comprising genealogy; I have omitted many Chapters concerning Jewish ritual but have retained essential passages and exemplars; and I have omitted many Chapters concerning the minute instructions on liturgical architecture and instruments.
  2. The ordering of the text is necessarily a compromise between the usual order and the chronology of events and authorship to give some variety to the reading. I have shown 1 & 2 Chronicles in brackets as an alternative to 1 & 2 Kings.
  3. The Psalm cycle exactly follows the Book of Common Prayer.
  4. The ordering of the letters attributed to St. Paul follows that of the Muratorian Fragment
