Advent to Candlemas (Vol. 5)

All We Know

It would be strange to see a red
Rose petal on the snow,
Easier instead
To see a snow flake drifting
Towards gore:
Yet the the rose
And the blood
Re-oriented
Godhead and motherhood.

It would be strange to see a star
Obscure all other light,
Easier by far
To see thousands of stars bright
Autonomously:
Yet the star
Of the stars
Created
Wonder and harmony.

It would be strange to see a white
Rose petal on the blood,
Easier, in spite
Of sophistry, to see blood lying
On the snow:
Yet the petal
And the star,
The blood
And not the snow are
All we know.
