Strange Light
Strange light arrests Her
Then caresses;
An angel frightens Her
Then blesses:
The Spirit enflames the tiny room
And then Her womb.
Strange fire breaks out
Of a manger
The straw is ablaze
With no danger:
It springs from re-birth
Of the whole earth.
Strange music disembodied
In a voice;
The shepherds are stunned
Then rejoice:
Goodwill to all men,
Including them.
