Freedom and Security

  1. Far past the ancient emnities of power,
Beyond the cruel but necessary law,
We seek The Grace and Truth of Jesus Christ
To comfort, strengthen, pardon and restore.
  2. The factions of a cramped, defensive Church,
The clutter of tradition primed to rule,
Are attributes we want to dissipate,
To be new learners in a glistening pool.
  3. In comradeship of light we learn to swim,
Not framed or channelled in a narrow course,
But in the open, innocence of strength
Against the narrow testament of force.
  4. Look down upon our free and open land,
Of bracing breakers cruising to the shore,
That in our freedom we may understand
That to be open is to be secure.
