Jesus of Sky and Sand

  1. The star shone over Bethlehem
    That wondrous night;
    And shepherds rushed down from the fields
    All full of fright;
    And friendly cards are filled with robins
    perched in snow;
    And alien vegetation hangs,
    Holly and mistletoe.
  2. The sky of an Australian night
    All full of stars
    Crowned by the Southern Cross,
    So near and far;
    And shepherds came further than kings
    To see the child
    Born into Palestine
    Barren and wild.
  3. Now sing we all a Christmas song
    Of unity,
    Of sea and sunlight, open space
    And harmony;
    And celebrate Our Lord in light and
    Not in grey
    Jesus of sky and sand
    Sheds His unbroken ray.
