Advent to Candlemas (Vol. 3)

Nature

The foxes brushed the dusty road
To smooth the path the donkey trod,
Bearing its light and precious load,
The mother and the son of God.

The shepherds, wakened by their sheep,
Heard angels voices in the sky;
The cattle warmed the child in sleep,
Lowing a simple lullaby.

The camels signed a solemn truce
Of non aggression with the kings
Who, solemnly, renounced abuse
And sighed for previous sufferings.

The ant, the lion and the dove
Gave thanks to Jesus in its way
But do I recognise his love
And offer mine to him each day?
