Advent to Candlemas (Vol. 3)

Petals

A white petal lying in the straw,
A mother and her infant O so pure;
A tableau so quiet and so poor,
And yet it changed the world forevermore.

A pink petal floating on the lake,
Of fish and of souls a mighty take;
They could not believe it on the shore:
And yet it changed the world forevermore.

A red petal nailed upon a tree
The most precious blood in history
Poured out, negating what had gone before:
And so it changed the world forevermore.

A golden petal floating in the wind
Between the earth and sky for all mankind,
A mystery to worship and explore:
Because it changed the world forevermore.
