Advent to Candlemas (Vol. 2)

Untimely Tale

  1. Untimely tale
Of fruit and flowers in the snow,
    The rich blue veil
    Caught in angelic afterglow,
    Deep, northern straw,
    Sleek, docile beasts of sentiment,
    The stable door
    Closed against the hostile elements.
  2. Yet born He was,
    This child of our imagining,
    Human because
    Abstractions elude reckoning:
    God could have saved
    All sinners without Calvary
    That would have deprived
    Us of His sweet Nativity.
