General (Vol. 1)

For Victims of Human Failure

  1. Lord, when my judgment fails
Or time and strength run down
Protect those I sought to protect
As they are all Your own.

  2. In human enterprise
    The end is never sure
Even when blessed with good intent
    And motives that are pure.

  3. Protect me, too, from hurt
When I have tried and failed
And from derision from those pleased
    That I have not prevailed.

  4. But most of all give me
    The courage to proceed
    Bearing the Spirit's tender yoke
To help Your souls in need.
