General (Vol. 1)

Vocation

  1. The Promise of the palace gate recedes before Your throne
    And we must quit the earthly search for honours of our own.
    Our minds must stretch, our wills subdued, to serve where You desire,
    Not seeking refuge from this world but ardent to inspire.

  2. We have been slow to recognise the path that we must take,
    Thinking a modest mission fit to offer for Your sake.
    But there can only be one truth behind the faith we bring;
    No less than Heaven, the earth must bow, acknowledging You as King.

  3. The old divide between this world and heaven's unending space
    Must be united by the bridge of Your abiding Grace.
    And we must all be builders now, not wondering at the task
    But willingly submitting to whatever You may ask.
