Ash Wednesday to Pentecost

Everywhere I See the Cross Bit In My Heart

  1. Everywhere I see The Cross but in my heart,
    In lofty churches and hushed galleries it stands and glows;
    I see the image of the dying Christ
    But why I go on sinning, God only knows.
  2. Everywhere I see The Cross but in my heart,
    In the words I read and prayers I pray
    But even then when I see evil in the street,
    I close my heart and turn away.
  3. But everywhere I see The Cross it hurts my heart,
    For an instant every day it brings its pain
    And I hope that all these moments gathered in
    Will help me see My Lord again.
