Ash Wednesday to Pentecost

O Wretched Soul

  1. O wretched soul whose fire so soon burns out,
    Which does not have the fuel to sustain,
    Which gutters at the hint of chilling breeze
    And flinches at the slightest kind of pain;
  2. Have we not learned from what Our Saviour taught
    And from His glorious death on Calvary;
    Have we no kindling for The Spirit's flame,
    Or are our souls transfixed in apathy.
  3. How quickly hope is stirred at Your return,
    How quickly afterwards the hope is lost;
    Give us the strength going forward to maintain
    An open channel to Your Pentecost.
