General (Vol. 3)

God's Music

  1. May there be music fit for my true God
Where we combine to make the sweetest sound,
My dancing figures glittering and gay,
His timeless measure in the solid ground.
  2. My strings well tuned not slack nor yet too taut
Responding to His ever perfect bow,
God's score set out in dazzling array,
The perfect finish with no hint of show.
  3. In prayer and worship, action, service, love
May I exceed the comfortable stage
But not wind strings so taut that they will break,
Denying me the joy of the next page.
